Scientists say that married men live longer but marital status for women made no significant difference to longevity. Yet men usually are not into raptures over marriage, women are (at least here in Europe). You made me smile marklurch. You know that it was a joke from a soap opera, but there is a Russian saying that there is a share of truth in each joke. Have you heard about relationships where only one person was happy? I haven't so my philosophy is that if a woman happy then a man is happy as well. On the other hand yes women, and particularly me have intuition and it has happen several times to me when things went my way and my ex listened to me he never had regrets. I am talking about short trips I insisted on, or about choosing the road, while travelling, about choosing a job, a doctor, a movie... I could list till the morning but I think it is enough...

But even if the woman is not the agent of these desired events the failure to compromise when such events are not shared by the other party will rapture any blissful co-habitation.

jammer2 write: Granddad died three months ago at 94 years old, married at 17. Grandma died 18 months ago at 90. They had 16 kids, 14 lived to adulthood. If anything, having all those kids certainly didn't help Grandma live longer.
math sounds like grandma was 14 at time of marriage. 16 kids were a lot, but she still made it to 90!! that is impressive with or without 16 kids, and more so with! Grandpa didn't birth them and he only had 4 more than her.

I have heard this joke and as we Russians say there is a little truth in each joke. People are not prepared to live together, to compromise, to sacrifice... I think we need not only baby license, but marriage license as well.

Granddad died three months ago at 94 years old, married at 17. Grandma died 18 months ago at 90. They had 16 kids, 14 lived to adulthood. If anything, having all those kids certainly didn't help Grandma live longer.
